Stamped Made in England. 9” tall x 6” wide x 2.5” deep
Originally, spill vases were intended to hold "spills"—thin wooden sticks or tightly curled paper used to transfer flame from a fire to light candles or tobacco before matches became widely available.
This specific spill vase features a young man and a cow, reflecting the romanticized view of rural England prevalent during the Victorian era. Many Victorian figures were designed to be displayed on shelves or mantelpieces.
